Description ENG
Between 2019 and 2020, Thurrock Council commissioned AR Urbanism to lead the regeneration of Grays Town Centre, aiming to create a vibrant place to live, work, visit, and learn. The vision includes high-quality cafés, bars, restaurants, shops, markets, cultural attractions, and events.
Key Objectives:
- Reconnect the High Street across the railway and to the River Thames.
- Create safe, attractive, and welcoming streets and public spaces.
- Improve walkability and cycling access.
- Boost local business activity.
- Support high-quality new development.
- Encourage activities throughout the day and evening.
To achieve this, key locations were identified for small-scale interventions aligned with an acupuncture strategy. Alongside a strategic masterplan to guide the Council, we developed a Project Bank—a collection of successful case studies from elsewhere, offering replicable solutions for the local context.
